US military launches ‘self-defence strikes’ targeting Iran

  • Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary ⁠Guard Corps (IRGC) says it attacked the United States Fifth ⁠Fleet in Bahrain with ⁠drones, and an airbase in Jordan with missiles in response to US strikes on southern ‌Iran earlier, state media report.
  • The US military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) said it carried out “self-defence strikes” against Iran in response to what it said was the downing by Iranian forces of a US attack helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz on Monday.
