Bill Maher says it’s possible he and fellow television host Jimmy Kimmel “may never talk again” after a bitter falling-out. On Monday’s episode of his “Club Random” podcast, Maher got candid about his past friendship with Kimmel, and suggested a difference in their political views had come between them. “He’s very mad at me, and I know you’re close to him,” he told guest Adam Carolla, who co-hosted Comedy Central’s “The Man Show” with Kimmel from 1999 to 2004. “I hope you tell him that I’m sorry that they got bent out of shape. I don’t think I did anything wrong. We can have disagreements.” Describing Kimmel as “one of the nicest guys,” Maher added, “My tribe is supposed to be the left, but these are the people who just can’t talk to you unless you’re exactly there, whereas the Republicans, they always fucking come to my show.” Bill Maher reveals Jimmy Kimmel is “very mad” at him and may “never talk” to him again because of politics.“Jimmy Kimmel, he’s very mad at me… I don’t think I did anything wrong.”“This is the difference between the right and the left. It bugs me so much. My tribe is supposed… pic.twitter.com/0gNhD60dzZ Maher did not share specifics of what fractured his relationship with Kimmel in his “Club Random” chat. However, he publicly criticized Kimmel’s wife, Molly McNearney, last year after she acknowledged severing ties with family members who supported President Donald Trump. “It hurts me so much because of the personal relationship I now have where my husband is out there, fighting this man,” McNearney explained on a November episode of the “We Can Do Hard Things” podcast. “And to me, them voting for Trump is them not voting for my husband and me and our family.” McNearney is also an executive producer on her husband’s late-night talk show, “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” Her comments came just weeks after ABC and its parent company, Disney, yanked “Jimmy Kimmel Live” off the air after being pressured to do so by Trump’s Federal Communications Commission. The controversial suspension sprang from remarks Kimmel made about slain activist Charlie Kirk. True to form, Trump gloated over Kimmel’s absence from the airwaves, which lasted five days and generated cries of censorship. Discussing McNearney’s “ultimatum” on an episode of “Real Time” that aired last fall, Maher said, “Ultimatums don’t make people rethink their politics. They make them rethink you.” Though Maher has been critical of Trump in the past, he raised eyebrows last year after having dinner with the president. He later described himself as the “Trump whisperer” and has said he’d return to the White House if he’s invited back. Later in his “Club Random” discussion, Maher reiterated that Kimmel was a “great guy,” but nonetheless did not seem optimistic about a reconciliation. “I don’t just buy into the left-wing bullshit, and I never stop making fun of the right-wing bullshit at all,” he said. “And if that’s not good enough for you, then I think you’re the asshole, and I don’t think Jimmy is an asshole… it bugs me that, you know, because of what the latest thing was, that we may never talk again.” By entering your email and clicking Sign Up, you're agreeing to let us send you customized marketing messages about us and our advertising partners.
