(FOX40.COM) — A 26-year-old man from Los Angeles died after a skiing incident at Northstar Ski Resort, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

A spokesperson from the sheriff’s office told FOX40 that its coroner units responded to the resort on Friday after receiving a report of a fatal skiing incident.

Officials said the skier, who was identified as Nicholas Kenworthy, 26, of Los Angeles, was pronounced dead before the coroner arrived at the scene.

PCSO reported that no additional details about the incident have been released as the investigation remains active.

“Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time,” PCSO said in a statement.
