Hollywood’s best embraced classic red carpet elegance while across the pond for the 79th British Academy Film Awards on Sunday night. Commonly known as the BAFTAs, stars went for timeless black tie attire while attending Britain’s most distinguished awards show at London’s Royal Festival Hall. “Bugonia” lead Emma Stone was pure sophistication in a custom black Louis Vuitton halter dress with a bold keyhole at the chest. Chase Infiniti, who is up for two awards for her breakout role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another,” stunned in a strapless wine red Louis Vuitton look with a structured flounce at the bottom. Timothée Chalamet looked dapper in black on black, donning a double-breasted Givenchy jacket with a matching shirt and bow tie as he showed up to see if he’d nab another accolade for “Marty Supreme.” So far this season, he’s picked up best actor honors at both the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards. Gillian Anderson wowed in a swirl of purples from Serbian-born designer Roksanda while Monica Bellucci turned heads in an off-the-shoulder Stella McCartney number with Cartier diamonds around her neck. And of course it wouldn’t be a true English affair without a bit of royal elegance. Princess of Wales Kate Middleton glowed in a blushing Gucci gown which her husband, Prince William, matched in a velvet burgundy jacket at the event. Awards watchers were keeping a keen eye on tonight’s results, as the BAFTAs are seen as a strong predictor for what could happen come Oscars night in Hollywood next month. “One Battle After Another” has the most opportunity for awards with 14 nominations. Right behind is Ryan Coogler’s Southern horror showcase “Sinners” with 13.
