I’m so glad I chose this instead of an old school frame. Came quickly, great quality, and they even added twine and a nail (which I didn’t expect). Love, love, love!!" —Emily Promising review: "I recently bought a brand new mattress that came with a free box spring that I was looking to hide nicely until I move and buy a new bed frame. This did the job! For the price you can't beat it. I love that the entire piece of fabric is one color (in my case black) vs. some of the other products that have the layer between the mattress and box spring white in color. It's a nice length and runs right to the floor." —Matthew L. Get it from Amazon for $9.99+ (available in twin–California king, 11 colors, and packs of 20). It legit looks like my dishwasher is stainless steel now. It's not big enough to cover the whole thing at once so there is a seem, but I put the seem on the lower half of the dishwasher and it's not very noticeable at all. If I didn't know to look for it, I probably wouldn't see it. Just make sure you wash whatever you're applying it to so that it sticks well, and go slowly when applying so you don't get bubbles." —Sharon Get it from Amazon for $9.99+ (available in four sizes). Promising review: "Very easy to get results. I applied to eight dining room chairs which had scrapes, scuffs and white paint marks. An amazing transformation so quickly. I finished eight chairs in 90 minutes without rushing. I bought two pints but only one was necessary. I used a cotton cloth for most of the application but also used 0000 steel wool for the scrapes and paint removal." —Grumpy Neanderthal Get it from Amazon for $16.98+ (available in nine wood finish colors); many reviewers follow up with the same brand's wood polish and conditioner (they're meant to be used together!), which you can get for $10.98 from Amazon. Promising review: "We bought this register to replace two 'plain Jane' builders grade ceiling registers for our home HVAC system. We purchased the lower-cost white models since we intended to repaint the registers with a hammered metallic paint finish — which we did. The registers look great and have an expensive look at a very reasonable cost. Since we purchased those two, we have purchased an additional six air registers of the same design to replace the other builder's grade registers at our home." —DonSpansk Get it from Amazon for $25.18 (also available in a five-pack and other sizes and colors; check out their store page for other designs, like art deco, eclipse, and gothic & victorian). If I had to describe it...I'd describe very soft straws (like drinking straws) woven into a carpet. It doesn't stay wet and it doesn't get hot so it is perfect for our pool patio. It is lightweight though, so if you don't have something to set on it or put it away during a storm it will blow around." —Andrea Malcolm Get it from Amazon for $46.99+ (available in nine sizes and 14 styles; see all the available designs on the Fab Habitat store page). Get it on Amazon for $35.09+ (available in six colors and 28 sizes, and see all the rug designs available on the Safavieh store page). Promising review: "My kitchen window is on the sidewalk near the community mailboxes. Lots of people walking by. I loathe mini blinds which collect dust and grease. Especially since the stove is next to the window. Curtains are better, but still collect cooking smells and grease particles. I installed this in about ten minutes. It lets in light, but hides me from nosy people." —Gayle Smith Get it from Amazon for $8.49+ (available in three colors and 14 roll sizes). Many reviewers say the frames are definitely light enough to hang with Command Picture Hanging Strips, if that's more your style. Promising review: "Great quality. I'm in love with these frames! Pictures do not do them justice. I'm so glad I found these. They're so affordable and elegant looking that I purchased another set to separate in threes and place around the house. They all came in great shape, and the installation was simple. The template it comes with is super helpful. If you're debating, purchase them. You won't be disappointed." —Jennifer Zuniga Get a pack of nine frames from Amazon for $79.99+ (about $8.88 per frame; available in three sizes, a multi-size pack, and seven colors). The kit includes six cable covers that total 150" (each is 25"), 12 connector pieces, and self-adhesive tape. Promising review: "This product worked great for cleaning up my mess of cables/power cords going to my wall mounted TV. The plastic is sturdy, yet easily cut to proper length, I did however, use a "T" type of expandable wall anchor because I was attaching it to exterior stucco wall. The channels are large enough to accommodate numerous cords, and the covers snap firmly in place." —TheoLogic1 Get it from Amazon for $15.99 (also available in black). The 35-quart container comes with all the mounting hardware you'll need. Promising review: "I hesitated to trade existing storage space for a trashcan but I am so glad I did. The Rev-A-Shelf was easy to install and worked exactly as I expected. The instructions were a bit lacking but a quick check on YouTube is all you need. Just four easily placed screws to your cupboard bottom and project complete. The fact that the kitchen trash is not the first thing guests see when they enter my house is awesome. I should have done this upgrade years ago! You won't be sorry if you purchase this unit. I love it!" —daisy Get it on Amazon for $71.99+ (available in six colors, and matching lids are also available in a few colors; you can also check out other options and sizes for Rev-A-Shelf trashcan storage). Promising review: "We are heavy composters — lots of fresh vegetables and fruit, 1/2 pound of coffee grounds per week, lots of tea bags — all scrap goes in this composter. We have a ton of plants and use our compost. What clinches the deal on this product is that surprisingly, we have not once smelled any odors whatsoever with the lid closed. Also, none of our friends have picked up a see-through container off our counter top and said, "Oh, what's in here?" so no more embarrassing explanations of how we kept garbage in a bowl on top of our counter!" —Laura B Get it on Amazon for $26.95+ (available in white and charcoal, two sizes, and as a four-pack). You'll need two AA batteries to make this work, btw! Promising review: "This shaver is worth every penny. It’s gentle enough that it doesn’t pull on my clothing, but strong enough to pull all of the annoying pilling. It removes all of the lint. I used on both a sweater and my couch. 10 out of 10 — definite must-buy." —Valagerie Get it on Amazon for $8.54+ (available in white and lavender, and in a rechargeable style). Reviewers note that using this may darken the leather, so keep that in mind! Promising review: "I have tried several kinds of conditioner on my leather furniture, all with less than stellar results. Then arrives my honey conditioner..... My goodness, it is EXCELLENT! My furniture felt better and looked amazing after the first application. Couldn't be happier!! Money well spent! It goes a loooooong way too. You don't have to use much at all. I believe this will be the only product I use on leather for the rest of my life.... Yeah, it's that good lol. Note: I found that applying it by hand was the best way to apply it to my furniture. It works best, keeps you from wasting product in an applicator, and it makes your hands feel kinda nice." —Billy L. Aaron Get it from Amazon for $19.99+ (available in three sizes). Reviewers use these for all sorts of things: flashcards, makeup, wash cloths, journals, dryer sheets, medication, glasses, slipper socks, toilet paper...they're great clutter containers! Promising review: "Finding small lidded boxes that looked cute but had structure was a challenge, and these work really well. My only 'complaint' is that the little twine ties on the backs are flimsy and some broke after a few days — but an easy fix is to use black zip-ties and no one will see the difference. Overall, very cute (makes our bathroom feel like a spa!!) and we get tons of compliments! Great solution." —Kristina Get it from Amazon for $25.59 (also available as a three-basket nesting set for $29.99). Or get a similar four-pack nesting set from Amazon for $40.99. Get the how-to from Little House On The Corner. And get the tools you'll need from Amazon, including a clamp ($76.62+), mitre saw ($539), cordless drill ($107.75), hammer ($15.99), and nailer ($126.50+). Btw, this isn't designed to be the final layer of paint — a primer just creates the "base coat," so you can go over it with any other color you'd like! It's an extra step that can help cover up stains so the color you actually want shines through, creates a uniform surface for your paint to better adhere to, *and* can even cut down on the number of coats you'll need. Promising review: "This primer is awesome! My radiators in my home were a faded Pepto bismol pink....I tried to paint them with white interior paint, but the pink bled through and looked awful. I ordered this and it covered the pink! Now I can finish them with the white . It didn't smell bad either, I was worried about that because I have emphysema. It dried quickly, as well. I definitely recommend it, well worth the price!" —Susan Murin Get it from Amazon for $11.68+ (available in white and gray, four sizes, and packs of two and four). Promising review: "These worked wonderfully to give some privacy to my back yard without blocking out everything. I have had them up for about a year now, and they hold up well to weather conditions (snow, rain, freeze, heat). Color has lasted so far. No issues with hanging them. I used green zip ties purchased separately. Easy to cut and adjust the size. Recommended." —Don't Be Hateful Get it from Amazon for $34.99+ (available in two sizes). Promising review: "Great little shelf that comes fully assembled and you just have to attach it to the wall. Sturdy enough to hold jackets and purses. Excellent choice for small spaces. Would buy this again!" —Chris Get it on Amazon for $34.99+ (available in black and white). This video also shows how to do it. I excerpted this review below, but if you decide you're serious about making this happen, I recommend reading it in full, too! —Natalie You'll need other supplies in addition to the kit: a scrubbing pad (three for $2.62), some Ajax ($6.28), TSP Cleaner (two for $15.80), a bucket ($23.41), #400 ($7.35) or #600 ($8.33) grit wet/dry sandpaper, a lint-free cloth (10 for $4.99), a tack cloth (six for $7.99), masking tape (six for $12.90), a drop cloth (three for $8.59), a paint stir stick (10 for $7.49), a high-quality 2" soft-bristled paintbrush ($13.48), and lacquer thinner ($11.28). If you have loose paint and rust, you'll also need a wire brush ($5.99); if you have mold or mildew, you'll also need bleach (two for $12.99). Promising review: "I wanted to do something about the ugly 'almond-colored' fiberglass bathtub/shower combo fixtures in both bathrooms of my otherwise fully-remodeled bright white (with light gray flooring) recently bought home. Quotes for contractors to come in and do the work at, say, The Home Depot would have run me about $5,000+ for the tubs alone (not including the walls). I finally discovered some refinishing kits online. The prep work took at least a day or two of my spare time for each tub/shower. You should actually wait well over an hour after mixing the activator in with the base paint; the viscosity of the mixture is so thin and runny that, no matter the verticality of the surface you're applying it to and how skilled at painting you think you are, you will definitely have a lot of drips throughout the process. It is handy to keep a clean rag to wipe up spills. After I was all done and could finally pretty much say like the instructions state that I am 'satisfied with coverage.' It seems like this finish will last a while and both tubs look beautiful! Every time I take a shower I can just admire how bright and shiny white they look. It's really satisfying. I probably spent around $175 for three of the kits and all the supplies that I didn't already have offhand — much better than the many thousands of dollars!" —KJ You do need a smooth surface painted with an eggshell, satin, or semi-gloss finish for it to work, and you can also use it on furniture like bookshelves and drawers, or even stair risers! Promising review: "This wallpaper is a total show stopper. This is going to be the focal point of my entire home; it looks so high-end. I cannot believe this was an Amazon purchase. The black is inky, and the ivory is perfect — it's not white but not too yellow either. The paper is thick, which makes it nice to work with and easier than the thin, flimsy kind of paper. It goes on pretty easily and stays put, but with enough give to quickly fix mistakes. It's peel and stick, so there are some typical headaches, but generally, it's easy to work with, especially if you have prepped your wall and then prepped yourself emotionally. (Patience, deep breaths, no rushing. These are essential for any peel-and-stick project.) Honestly, I just can't get over how high-end the pattern is. True show stopper." —Jillian Get it from Amazon for $20.30+ (available in four colors and three sizes; see all the available patterns on the The Novogratz wallpaper page). If this one's not quite to your taste, check out other peel-and-stick wallpaper brands on Amazon with lots of designs: RoomMates, Tempaper, Spoonflower, and Art3D. I bought this to go behind my bar cart, and it made such a huge difference! Now my cords are disguised under the cart, I can plug more in, and the cart can sit close to the wall. It's literally as simple as it looks: you plug it in, use the included cord organizers to make that look nice and neat, then plug in your electronics. —Natalie Promising review (for photo above): "My router connects to the outlet behind the couch and since the couch should be flush with the wall, the cords had bent. This completely changes the look and I no longer have to worry about cords bending or making a dent in the back of the couch. The length of the cord is a bit longer than expected but the outlet was so close to the ground which I’m assuming is not how everyone else's outlets would be; none the less, it looks sleek!" —Angie Get it on Amazon for $21.95+ (available in three lengths, a standard or inverted configuration, and a dual design). Promising review: "Such a relief! The cords on my desk were such a disaster that I bought this for myself. I am so glad I did. It totally cleared up the rats nest of cords and my desk looks so much better." —Amazon Customer Basically, the spines of the books are attached but have all the pages and covers cut out of 'em, except the two covers on the very ends. BTW — Covogoods is a family-owned small business creating home decor in Utah. Promising review: "Wonderful!! We spent the past month remodeling our living room, but we didn't account for how AWFUL the cable boxes and modem were going to look on our beautiful new shelves. Saw this, and had to have it! Covogoods not only communicated quickly with me, but were EXTREMELY accommodating in my requests. Turned out exactly how I envisioned it, and dimensions were spot on! No more ugly cable boxes and wires!" —Lindsey Martinez Get it from Covogoods on Amazon Handmade for $39+ (available in 14 lengths and 15 colors, including custom) or from Etsy for $29.40 (originally $42; available in 14 lengths and 20 colors, including custom). Promising review: "These are a great way to open up more storage potential in the garage. This is actually my third home when I've used these in my garage. If you have lots of room between your garage door and your ceiling, these can be used up there to allow you to store stuff in a space you would otherwise not be able to use. They're great for being able to store stuff way up high and not take up any floor space. We store all of our Christmas lights and other holiday decorations on them. They hold up the weight of four or five big bins full of Christmas light strings no problem." —Buster Get it from Amazon for $90.90+ (available in hammertone and white). Just a heads-up — some reviewers mention that the bottle "spits" on the first spray, so try giving it a test spritz on some cardboard, then you're good to go! Promising review: "Best looking metal spray paint I have seen. It took me 90 minutes to prepare, mask, and paint my bathroom faucet. I used about half a can of this paint." —OC-Adam Get it from Amazon for $12.25+ (available in 21 metallic finish colors, seven sizes, and in packs of two, four, and six). Btw — one reviewer did an in-depth comparison of these in champagne brass with some they found at Home Depot (which were $9.99 each) and, spoiler, there was barely any difference at all! Promising review: "They are so beautiful in person, they have a great weight to them, which makes them feel expensive, and they are affordable!... No complaints. I am happy I gave them a try <3" —Taylor Ray Get a set of 10 from Amazon for $12.08+ (available in three finishes, two sizes, and a pack of 25). This is exactly what I used on the old drawer knobs above, and they came out beautifully and completely transformed the aesthetic of my coffee cart! The pictures really speak for themselves here! Yes, those are four glass drawer pulls I bought on clearance at Anthropologie like, 15 years ago, and transformed in the course of an afternoon with this gold leaf! After constant use in my bedroom then in my kitchen for that long, their original gold-painted surfaces had certainly seen better days. I shopped around for other knobs but never found any I liked quite as much...and definitely not four for $20, which is what this gold leaf kit on Amazon costs. (Well, technically it's copper and some other metals, but it LOOKS gold, which is what counts.) IMO it's a real value: for the price, you get the adhesive sizer, 25 sheets of the metal leaf, and the sealant. Just add a couple of cheap foam brushes and some cheap craft paint brushes and you have everything you need! It took me about four hours of Olympics-watching to perfect these knobs after scrubbing the old paint off. And I only used a fraction of the kit, so there's plenty leftover for even more projects! Simply paint the adhesive on with a foam brush, give it about 2 minutes to set so it's sticky, then carefully lay the piece of gold foil over your object, and gently use a paint brush to coax the foil into all the nooks and crannies — which is SUPER satisfying. It's okay if there are some wrinkles or imperfections, because that's what gold foil's supposed to look like. Let dry, brush off excess foil, and cover any cracks or holes with the same process. Once you're satisfied, coat your item in the sealant, let dry, and it's all set! —Natalie Get the gold leaf kit from Amazon for $25.19 — or if that's sold out, the adhesive sizer ($9.79), sealer ($11.09) and the leaf itself ($10.99). Promising review: "Very handy item. Helped clear off counterspace and hide the clutter! My son and daughter share a small bathroom. The complaint was always HER hair items left on the counter taking up the space. Not anymore. Even a hot flat iron or curling iron can be put away to free up space and cut down on the complaints I have to hear! Worth every penny!!" —Julie Grant Get it from Amazon for $19.99+ (available in three metallic finishes). This is a three-step paint process that can be applied to Formica, laminate, Corian, ceramic tile, butcher block, and more! It has automotive-grade durability and is made of safe water-based materials. One kit covers the typical kitchen's 35 square feet or 16 running feet of standard two-foot-wide countertop. You could also use it to paint a counter a solid color! You'll also need: a Brillo pad (eight for $4.50), Frog Tape ($7.88), a wood patch ($6.51), and sandpaper ($5.99) for any deep nicks or seams. Paint rollers, sponges, and brushes are included in the kit. The company also has thorough step-by-step videos on its YouTube channel for both the granite and the marble kits! Promising review: "It looks terrific and the application was straightforward. I’m about as artistic as Fred Flintstone but if you follow directions the granite effect takes care of itself. One hint: take your time masking and use Frog Tape, which gives you nice clean lines. I was worried about whether I’d be able to get a clear border around the sink and even considered taking the sink out but it turned out fine." —Carl D. Hausman Get it from Amazon: The granite kit for $84.96+ (available in four finishes and in an acrylic and epoxy topcoat) or the marble kit for $199.95 (available in six styles). One reviewer praises the pattern for not looking repetitive or faux! Promising review (for photo above): "'Can you do ANYTHING about the bathroom countertops?' asked my realtor. 'They're... a little dated.' A little dated means they are stained with hair dye, scuffed, and generally terrible-looking up close. I was broke and inspired by the internet, so I tried it. By "it," I mean covered the countertops in marble contact paper. It was easy to install with a second person patiently holding the contact paper above the countertop while I smoothed with a credit card. This countertop required three pieces, and fitting them together so it looked relatively seamless was hard... Words were said. Exacto knives were broken. But in the end, it was relatively smooth and looked freaking gorgeous. The photo doesn't even do it justice. My realtor walked in after the 'change' and went 'Whaaaa?! Did you spring for a new countertop?' The house sold for $10,000 over listing. I'm not gonna say it was all this contact paper but it sure didn't hurt." —M. Hardwick Promising review: "Super easy to install and took less than 30 min to put together, level out and hammer in the stakes. My HOA doesn’t allow the trash bins to be visible from the street so this fixed that issue plus it matches my house trim." —Joseph and Anne Sawyer Promising review: "Love this buffalo check table runner! The quality is amazing, it will be such a transitional piece. I can use it for about any season. It fits my table just perfect. Love it!" —eric a. Get it from Amazon for $12.99+ (available in two lengths and nine colors). Promising review (for photos above): "This product is a LIFESAVER! So much so that I got two and pushed them next to each other to create a square and a big safer space on top, so if my 16-month-old climbs on it there’s less of a chance to fall off. Not to mention it looks amazing and the storage is great! So much room for all my sons toys so that it doesn’t look like a mess when he’s not using them! I can even fit my couch blanket in there with the toys! I love them!!" —Shane Keane Get it on Amazon for $35.96+ (available in two sizes and nine colors). Promising review: "I love my new shoe rack in our entry! No one can tell it is a shoe rack. It just looks as though it belongs here as a decorative piece. The middle rack is stationary and the top and bottom removable racks can be adjusted. Since we put our cat food container in it, the third row is a bit narrow, but works well for flip-flops and slip-on shoes. My husband's size 11.5 shoes fit with room to spare." —out of the box BuzzFeed Shopping is service journalism first: our writers and editors spend all day shopping so you don’t have to, vetting products, fact-checking brand claims, and surfacing what actually helps in real life.
