When my oldest started standing independently, I got a decorative, oh-so-cute wooden stool. I underestimated how clumsy toddlers are and how often they fall. I'm not sure my oldest child — time blind to an extreme — could function without this clock. She can tell time now, but she'll ignore the time without a visual cue that time is up.
