SEARCY, Ark.- President George W. Bush reflected on his time in office, the importance of democratic institutions, and the role young Americans play in shaping the nation’s future at Harding University Wednesday night. The former president’s address, titled “The Challenges Facing Our Nation in the 21st Century and the Power of Freedom,” was a part of a year-long distinguished lecture series celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. President Bush shared stories of his experiences during times of crisis and times of hope, emphasizing the importance of caring for one another and the nation. Bush Bush also encouraged students, faculty, alumni, community members, and local and state leaders to commit to learning and broaden their worldview. “Democracy is self-healing,” said Bush, who expressed confidence that the country will move forward with progress and endurance. “It was a tremendous honor to host President George W. Bush on our campus,” said Dr. Mike Williams, president of Harding University. “Moments like this provide our students with a unique opportunity to hear firsthand from leaders who have served our nation at the highest level. We are grateful for his willingness to share his experiences and encourage our students to pursue lives of leadership, integrity and service to others.” Former President George W.
