Colbert Momentarily Stunned Into Silence By Pete Hegseth’s ‘Ironclad Logic’ On Iran

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s bonkers logic about the consequences of the Iran war got the Stephen Colbert treatment on Monday’s broadcast of “The Late Show.” Hegseth on Friday downplayed concerns about Iran disrupting the Strait of Hormuz — through which about 20% of the world’s oil flows — arguing there was essentially no issue, aside from one major caveat. “The only thing prohibiting transit in the straits right now is Iran shooting at shipping. It is open for transit should Iran not do that,” Hegseth said. Colbert responded with several seconds of silence before delivering his verdict. “Yes ... yes, that is ironclad logic,” he mocked, adding: “Good news, Miss Nicols. Your husband’s surgery went perfectly; he should be ready to take home as soon as he’s done at the crematorium.” Watch Colbert’s full monologue here: By entering your email and clicking Sign Up, you're agreeing to let us send you customized marketing messages about us and our advertising partners.
