Sean Hannity said he was sorry to Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) for being an “asshole” in a chummy interview on the Fox News host’s “Hang Out” podcast Tuesday. (Watch the video below.)

Hannity noted that he had already apologized to Fetterman at Mar-a-Lago in early 2025 when Trump was the president-elect.

“I’ll do it publicly because I really needed to,” Hannity told his guest. ”... I really thought you were somebody you’re not. I did not know you. And so I got to know you. We talked that day, you were really cool about it, and then President Trump, if you remember, said, ‘Oh, Sean, why don’t come in the meeting?’”

Hannity, who said he was at Trump’s resort to see New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, ended up in the much-hyped Fetterman meeting with Trump, promising the senator and his wife that what transpired would be off the record.

Hannity mentioned he went hard at Fetterman during his Pennsylvania campaign against Hannity’s friend, Dr. Mehmet Oz. But the conservative commentator felt it was time to make amends.

“The untold story is, so I walked up to you, and I said, ‘Senator, very nice to meet you.’” Hannity recalled. “I said, ‘You should hate me. I’m an asshole.’ And I don’t know if you remember that part. ... By that time, I’d begun to realize I had you all wrong. Everything I believed, thought about you, and I really believed it, was wrong.”

“I don’t have grudges,” Fetterman told the host.

“You immediately accepted my apology,” Hannity remembered later. “But I was an asshole, I really was. I don’t wanna be that in my life.”

In 2022, Hannity threatened to sue Fetterman for allegedly lying about him after Fetterman rejected an invite on his show. He also played a clip of Fetterman stammering due to the effects of a stroke, telling viewers the Democrat was “unfit” for office.

He called Fetterman a “lying loser” and accused him of dodging a debate with Oz. (The debate eventually happened with Fetterman obviously affected by his near-fatal stroke.)

In the run-up to the election, Fetterman prodded Oz for being a carpetbagger who actually lived in New Jersey. But he said the trash talk was the “pro wrestling” aspect of political battles.

“That campaign got nasty, but he’s undeniably a brilliant guy,” said Fetterman, who added that he’d let Oz operate on him.

In another noteworthy exchange, Hannity poked fun at Oz for saying crudité instead of veggie plate on the campaign trail. He also praised Oz for being “brave” for offering alternatives to the COVID vaccine, and Fetterman didn’t push back.

Earlier, Hannity turbocharged the cringey bonhomie by introducing Fetterman as “the only normal Democrat in Washington.”

Of course, that’s because Fetterman has supported many of the policies of Trump and his administration, including the war in Iran.
