Jon Stewart Just Spotted Something In Trump's Jesus Pic — And We Can't Unsee It

Jon Stewart has cheekily interpreted President Donald Trump’s since-deleted social media post depicting himself as Jesus Christ ― or someone very much like Christ, anyway ― as a personal tribute. On Monday’s installment of “The Daily Show,” Stewart pointed out that he bears a striking resemblance to the bedridden patient appearing to be “healed” by Trump in the controversial image. “Am I OK? What the fuck?” he quipped. “Look, I know I don’t have the vigor and spunk of my MTV days, but I didn’t know we were here already. I didn’t realize my look had reached leper territory.” He went on to note: “From the picture, it looks like it was touch-and-go with me for a while. But, thank God, in my time of need, I was surrounded by family.” Watch a clip from Monday’s “Daily Show” below. Stewart’s remarks on the controversial image begin around the 3:38 mark. After likening the other characters in the image to his loved ones, he jokingly proclaimed, “This is freaking me the fuck out!” Trump drew the ire of public officials from both sides of the political aisle, as well as faith leaders, when he shared the image on his Truth Social platform Sunday, which happened to also be Orthodox Easter. The photo, which appears to be an AI-produced illustration, shows the president in a white robe and a red sash placing his hand atop a sick man’s forehead as military figures and a nurse look on. There are also silhouettes of soldiers in the sky above as well as eagles, fighter jets, fireworks and the Statue of Liberty. Trump and his team have been known to post over-the-top images of him on social media in the past, with recent examples depicting the president as both Superman and the pope. Having long expressed interest in having a sculpture of his face included on Mount Rushmore, he’s also shared an illustration of what that might look like. But the image of Trump as Christ or a Christ-like figure crossed the line for many, particularly as it was posted while the president has been engaging in a war of words with Pope Leo XIV. Trump defended the image, arguing that it portrayed him as a “doctor” and not as any sort of religious figure. However, he or his team appeared to delete the post from his Truth Social account on Monday. Stewart, however, wasn’t buying Trump’s excuse. “Why don’t you own it, you big puss-bag? You put yourself out there as Jesus, you got fucking called on it,” he said. “Do you even care about lying to us anymore? ... Your lies used to have a real spark.” By entering your email and clicking Sign Up, you're agreeing to let us send you customized marketing messages about us and our advertising partners.
