“The Pitt” finished up its second season on HBO Max on Thursday and left us with a ton of questions. But thankfully for fans of the show, Season 3 is already in the works. The writers room is in full swing. Noah Wyle, who stars in, writes and executive produces the hit series, teased the third season in a sprawling interview with USA Today. After being a bit coy about a time jump for the upcoming season in an interview with Variety earlier this month, he finally spilled the beans on a few details — including when Season 3 will take place. “It will be pre-Thanksgiving, moving into colder weather,” Wyle told USA Today this week. “The holidays are approaching. The weather’s changing. People are turning on their heaters for the first time.” “It will be explosive,” he continued. Wyle also confirmed that the show will start shooting in June and that “they’ll hopefully get back on the air in January.” The Emmy-winning actor, who notably starred in the long-running medical drama “ER” in the ’90s and 2000s, also offered up a framework of how the show will position itself in its next batch of episodes. “The thesis of Season 1 is that the doctor is the patient,” Wyle said. “Season 2 is doctors don’t make very good patients. Season 3, the thesis is that doctors benefit from being patients.” In an interview with Variety, Wyle first addressed whether there would be a big time jump in Season 3 like there was between Seasons 1 and 2. “The only time jump we’re interested in making is to get into a different weather season, to get into a slightly different mode of cases that come with a change in weather. If that was summer, then what happens in the winter when you get cold, snow and black ice.” Season 2 notably took place on the Fourth of July. “The Pitt” streams on HBO Max.
