“It works so much better than the expensive stuff they try to sell you!”

I’m an award-winning writer and editor living in New York City, where I currently work at BuzzFeed as the Senior Lifestyle Editor.

"Store the wipes upside down so they don’t dry out."

- It WILL sting if you've just shaved or have a cut. You can wait until the next day.

- There are also face washes with it in.

- You can use it on your pits (it's anti-bacterial and helps with BO, too!)."

"Seconding this. I haven’t had an ingrown hair since I started using it post-wax. It works so much better than the expensive stuff they try to sell you!"

"You can also rub the fabric against itself. It works great when you notice deodorant marks after you’ve already left the house."

"Bending over to wash the back of my hair made a huge difference for me. I often wash from the top and then bend over for the back. I have very thick hair, so it can be hard to get products all the way to my scalp if I don't bend over and allow for some space between the strands.

I also section off my hair to rinse it. Start from the back/bottom and work my way forward. Keeps my scalp clean longer and helps a lot with buildup."

"Also, if you try a new hair conditioner and don't like it, and no one else in the family will use it, it makes excellent shaving cream."

"Oh my god, I've forgotten to do this, and then happened to clean my toilet the next day, and I was SO EMBARASSED!!"

"My mom taught me to wash one wall of my shower every time I showered, so by the end of the week, the whole thing got cleaned."

"Yes! There was a time when I was convinced that I had stomach cancer or something else drastically wrong because I was nauseated and/or vomiting practically every day. Turns out that living with an asshole who’s actively abusive and constantly mean is just really, really stressful! The tummy issues disappeared basically overnight after I eventually escaped."

"And deodorant isn’t always antiperspirant."

"This seriously helps. I started doing this when I was pregnant last year and haven't looked back. My 9-year-old goes straight to the sink to wash her hands when she gets home from school, too. I also use the antibacterial cart wipes at the store whenever they're available. We haven't been sick much since."

"Oh god, menstrual disks. I really wanted to love them. You can leave it in for like eight-plus hours, and I couldn’t feel it at all when it was in. It popped in easily for me since it was similar to the NuvaRing I used for birth control, but then I couldn’t manage to get it out. Finally, I got in the shower to try to pop a squat, really relax, and worked it out. I must have done it wrong somehow because it scraped the whole way out and promptly dumped a whole day's worth of period blood down my legs and all over my shower. The visuals, combined with the physical sensation and stress, had me moments away from passing out while squatting there in the shower. Never again."

"Do you have any tips about flossing for adults? I only just realized in my mid-30s that you’re meant to floss…"

"I'm a dentist. I prefer flossing before I brush. I'm a lazy person at night, so I actually floss after my last meal of the day in the kitchen hours before I actually brush (I don't snack after). I've recommended that people floss anywhere they kind of just chill and hang out (e.g., my teen patients floss at their laptops in the evening while waiting for load screens/videos/etc.). My older patients floss in the living room or bed while they watch Netflix. Just keep a small jar/trash can and tissues next to it for easy cleaning. When adding anything to your routine, FIND WAYS TO REALISTICALLY MAKE IT EASIER FOR YOU. Honestly, flossing multiple times a day is great if you can manage it, but it's most essential at night.

Plackers are okay, but string is better. But ANY flossing is better than no flossing (except water flossing, that's only acceptable in certain situations, IMO). When starting, a thinner floss may be better since your gums are sensitive. But after a while, I'd recommend switching to a thicker floss for better gingival maintenance, like Dr. Tung's or Cocofloss (or ANY floss described as 'woven' or 'expanding'). Please watch videos on YouTube on the 'C-method of flossing. Technique is important when flossing.

Good luck, and don't worry if you struggle with consistency. It's a habit you can always pick up again. Just be warned of the initial bloodbath for the first 2-3 weeks when you start. Your gums may even feel puffy, itchy, and/or tender when you start, but it'll go away with time."

"Slather Vaseline or petroleum jelly on your feet (slugging for your feet, basically) and put a sock over it for an hour or two or overnight. It really softens up the foot. It works on hands, too."

"My mom told me to try it as a teenager, and I've been doing it ever since. I shampoo, use soap on my body, condition my hair, and then I wash my face last."

"Pull back the clitoral hood, too. Guys with foreskins get dick cheese, but clit cheese is totally a thing (I’m sure this is heavily dependent on individual anatomy, so your mileage may vary)."

"Silk pillowcases have been a game-changer for me! I switched to try and help my hair from getting tangled so much at night, but had the pleasant side effect of fewer breakouts."
