NBC host Sara Gore, whose national “Open House” series gives lookie-loos a peek at chic homes, announced Thursday she has breast cancer and will be on leave for “treatment and surgery.” (Watch the video below.)

In tearful and candid remarks on her NBC 4 lifestyle show, “New York Live,” Gore confessed, “If I didn’t say that I was a little bit scared, I’d be lying.”

Gore, 49, said she was still caught off-guard by the diagnosis even though she watched her mother and sister “go through this.”

“I always knew I was high risk,” she said. “And I always assumed this day would come. But let me tell you, you are never ready... even when you catch it early.”

She went on to describe her diagnosis as “an emotional blow,” before adding, “It is stinging right now.”

Gore, who has three children with her husband, Matthew Miele, said she was receiving “incredible” care from doctors. “I feel loved,” she added while crying.

“Maybe there is a gift in this even if I don’t fully understand what it is yet,” she said, adding that it is a reminder of how “precious life is.”

She told viewers, “I’m gonna come back better than ever, and I’m gonna see you on the other side of this.”
