I am a contributor who has been writing for the BuzzFeed Shopping team since 2021, covering just about everything: home goods, beauty, fashion, gift guides, practical life hacks, tech, travel, personal wellness, and big sales events. I first started using this a few years ago for summer hiking, and now I can't live without it in the summer months. I sometimes chafe on my arms when I wear a tank top, both hiking and running, but with this, absolutely nothing! It's also great for preventing painful thigh rubbing when I'm wearing dresses, skirts, or short shorts. It now gets packed as an essential in my "summer-go" bag. Promising reviews: "I started using this when I was running 6 miles a day and getting chafing under my arms and between my legs. I don't run anymore, but now use it for chafing issues wearing nylons and rubbing at the top of my legs in my crotch area. It works great! If it is really humid and my skin is rubbing from walking, this stops the burn and the chafing. I recently met a nurse who was having a serious issue with incontinence, and the pads she had to wear to protect herself from leakage were chafing her badly. I turned her onto this product; she couldn't believe it. No more pain. I highly recommend this product." —Amazon Customer Get it from Amazon for $8.99+ (available in three sizes and in two-packs). Promising review: "It works amazingly well! It goes on smoothly, isn’t sticky, and really helps prevent chafing in areas that tend to rub during the day. I love that it’s easy to apply and gentle enough for sensitive skin. It creates a nice barrier that keeps everything comfortable, especially in warmer weather or when wearing dresses or workout clothes. Such a simple product, but a total lifesaver!" —Allison Get it from Amazon for $9+ (available in two sizes and in two-packs). Promising review: "I'm training for a (walking) marathon and a half in hot, steamy Southern California. There's nothing like being in the California sun for seven hours straight with all your moving parts constantly moving. I've had major problems with chafing, severe swelling, blisters, and terrible heat rash on my feet. I've used Body Glide stick, petroleum jelly, powder, etc., etc., etc. None of them worked as well as this product. I did 22 miles two days ago and re-applied after mile 12. NO heat rash, blisters, or chafing in the areas where I applied it. Was able to do 10 more miles the next day on feet that didn't hurt — for the first time. The product is pricey — no doubt. But when I'm nursing a blister, I can't really put a price on being able to move without pain or injury when I'm training or during an event." —alwayseaton Get it from Amazon for $10.99 (also available in a two-pack). Promising reviews: "Soft powder, great for night sweats, which is my issue. Eliminates chafing and heat rash for larger breasts. The pump design makes it super easy to use and has less waste. This is definitely something I would purchase again." —Texascj5 "I spent 10 days in 90-degree weather in Greece. This helped me stay comfortable while walking and touring archeological sites in the heat. No chafing! No itching or burning skin!" —Spayne Promising reviews: "This is the holy grail of no chafing!!! I live by this in the summer, or anytime I have to wear swimsuits, shorts, dresses, or skirts. Goes on easily, does not feel greasy or gross on your thighs. It's unscented, so no strange smells. It also lasts for a long time and lasted all day for a Disney trip. Best working stuff I have found, works much better than products that are in a deodorant stick style. I will never be without this chafing cream. Even my husband has used this!" —aberfitchgr534 "This stuff is amazing! Truly saved my thighs this summer. Always struggled with summer thighs, but thankfully with this stuff, it has been much, much better! Would highly recommend. Even helps relieve inner thighs after chafing" —cat pen holder Get it from Amazon for $7.47 (also available in multipacks). Promising review: "This is my third bottle of this powder over the years. I absolutely love it! Absolutely no negative skin reactions. Quite the contrary — skin IMPROVEMENT! It doesn’t have that musky smell like infant baby powder or clash with any perfumes or deodorants I use. The light pink color is not as obvious on the skin as stark white powder. It has a nice, fine, smooth consistency. It doesn’t clump up/cake. It shakes out of the container perfectly. (However, I have put a piece of scotch tape to cover one third of the holes, so it doesn’t come out too fast — just a personal preference). It absorbs moisture well. The calamine helps with any itchy spots. With this horrible heat and humidity lately, it has significantly helped with: under-boobs and skin folds; keeping navel dry and fungus-free; intertrigo rashes; and thigh chafing and thigh-crack sweat. And, it’s talc-free, so I feel comfortable using it near private areas. My husband uses it too with no complaints — he says it also works well for him and doesn’t find the light scent too offensive. A plus: We don’t have to buy the male AND female versions of this." —NJ2NC2 Get it from Amazon for $6.97 (also available in a two-pack). Promising reviews: "Great for under a dress. They are thin, so they are nice if you live in a hot climate area. They are still thick enough that they don’t get runs in them too easily if you have nails. I’ve worn them a lot, and they still don't have any tears and feel very soft and high quality." —Catrina "Love how breathable the material is. I have other chafing shorts and usually hate them because they make me sweat nonstop and I end up super uncomfortable, but this one is thin enough that I don’t get super sweaty when I go outside." —Fiona Get a pair from Boomba for $28 (available in sizes XXS/XS–6XL/7XL and in five colors; or get two pairs for $45). Heads up: Gold Bond has updated the packaging recently, but it's the same product! Promising review: "I just used it for five days in 90-degree-plus weather at Bonnaroo music festival in the middle of Tennessee on a farm in June with 100,000 people walking several miles, dancing, and sweating every day. I am happy to report that this product is a lifesaver. My thighs didn't chafe once, and I have big ones! I had to reapply once during the day. I strongly recommend buying this if you have large thighs and need relief from chafing. I couldn't wear dresses or skirts in the heat if I was walking anywhere, and now I live in them because of this stuff! Buy it! It works!" —Isaac Get it from Amazon for $6.26 (also available in a two-pack). Psst! It's also available in a powder spray. Promising reviews: "This stuff is the real deal. It got me through five days of Disneyland. Without it, I would have perished. I saw many other men doing a duck waddle, wishing they had what I had. Their nuts were sad and chafed. Don’t be like them. Buy Happy Nuts and don’t do a duck waddle for hours wishing you had chosen differently." —Bert Maclin "Honestly, this surprised me in the best way. I grabbed it, hoping it would help with sweat and odor, and it actually does. It goes on like a lotion, dries fast, and keeps everything feeling way more comfortable throughout the day. No weird stickiness, no heavy smell — just…normal and fresh. The biggest win for me is how well it cuts down on chafing. If you’re active, work outside, or just deal with heat and sweat, this stuff makes a huge difference. I noticed right away that I wasn’t constantly adjusting or feeling gross. Overall, it’s just a great product that really helps keep sweat and odor down." —Matthew J Hayes Get it from Amazon for $14.99+ (available in four scents and in multipacks). Promising review: "I have tried everything on the market for chub rub in the last 15 years and had resigned myself to wearing bike shorts with every cute dress and skirt for the rest of my life. But then my best friend's wedding was on the horizon, and I could not stomach bike shorts sticking out from under the slit of my dress. A friend recommended this, and it is a life-changer. I put this on when getting ready for the wedding, at about 4 p.m., and did not have a single issue the entire night. I danced, ran around, sweated, and had no issues with my thighs chafing. No reapplication needed, lasted until I finally climbed into bed at 1 a.m. A dream product!" —Amazon Customer Get a tube from Amazon for $21.99 (also available in other packaging styles). And if you're not into tubes or gel, you can try out the original (and much-loved) Megababe Thigh Rescue Anti-Friction Stick instead! It even comes in a mini version for on-the-go emergencies. Promising review: "I'm happy to say that this Megababe gel is absolutely amazing! The formula is thin and spreads with absolute ease. Don't be fooled by the thinness of the formula, however, because this stuff REALLY, REALLY LASTS! I'm no longer worried about my skin breaking down and having to deal with open rashes. You can use the convenient applicator, or you can squirt it into your hands to apply. I appreciate that the tube is a generous size as well! Hopefully, this product will stick around and not have a formula change because it really is amazing." —Enrico Promising review: "I have been trying to increase my distance jogging, and my socks and shoes were great up until around mile 6. Then I was getting blisters under my big toe. I found this amazing stuff in a BuzzFeed article and thought it was worth a try. It really does work! A small application of this on the trouble spot, and I did not have blisters after 6+ miles! Also used it at a theme park recently and remained blister free! Highly recommended!" —Beth L.
