Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) rebuked Dr. Anthony Fauci for causing “a great deal of pain for every American” after outgoing Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard released explosive documents exposing Fauci’s alleged lies to Congress about the origins of COVID-19 and gain-of-function research.

“This is more evidence of what we already knew. Dr. Fauci lied; he caused a great deal of pain for every American and most people around the world. The decisions that were made by the leadership at the time in America were based solely on what Dr. Fauci was saying, and now we know what we’ve always suspected — that he completely lied,” Comer said Monday on Fox News’ “Mornings with Maria.”

“He lied about funding gain-of-function research, he lied about the origins of COVID, he just continued to lie throughout the entire COVID debacle,” he continued.

Comer went on to tell host Maria Bartiromo that there is “more than enough evidence” from Gabbard’s released files on Fauci for the Department of Justice to “begin taking steps to hold Dr. Fauci accountable.”

He continued, “Decisions were made about the vaccine. If we had known at the time that this didn’t come from a wet market — this was man-made — would that have had an impact on the type of vaccine that Americans were given that we now know probably has caused a lot of health problems as a result of the COVID vaccine.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Comer called the COVID scandal the “biggest cover-up in American history.”

He added, “If something is not done, this will happen again.”

Gabbard’s newly declassified documents alleged that Fauci provided millions in U.S. taxpayer dollars to fund perilous gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab, misused his role to suppress the truth about the origins of COVID-19 and lied to Congress while under oath in 2024, among other damning accusations.

Fauci has not yet publicly addressed Gabbard’s released files but previously denied allegations that he covered up the origins of COVID-19 and denied suppressing the theory that COVID-19 originated from a lab leak in China.
